The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), the
world's largest international pre-college science competition, provides
an annual forum for approximately 1,700 high school students from more
than 70 countries, regions, and territories to showcase their
independent research as they compete for more than $5 million annually.
The Intel ISEF is the premier global science competition for students in
grades 9–12.
In 2014, Nathan Han, 16, of Boston, MA was awarded the Gordon E.
Moore Award of $75,000 for developing a machine learning software tool
to study mutations of a gene linked to breast cancer. Lennart Kleinwort,
15, of Germany and Shannon Lee, 17, of Singapore both won Young
Scientist Awards of $50,000 for their work on developing a new
mathematical tool for smartphones and developing a novel
electrocatalyst, respectively.
Intel ISEF 2015 will be held in
Pittsburgh, Intel ISEF 2016 will be held in Phoenix, and Intel ISEF 2017
will be held in Los Angeles.
